Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company (WISCO) is the first "giant" iron and steel corporation since the founding of PRC, ranking fourth in production output in China and fifth globally. The Company employs approximately 125,000 people and owns a complete set of processing plants comprised of mining, coking, sintering, iron making, steel making, rolling, and the associated utilities.
Its primary steel products include cold-rolled sheet and coil, galvanized and tinned sheet, color-coated sheet, and wire and rod. It also makes chemical products and granulated slag and operates at least four iron ore mines in Hubei and Jiaozhuo. Byproducts such as coke, refractory material, ferroalloy, powder metallurgical products, and copper-sulfur-cobalt concentrated ores are also a part of the production line.
WISCO has recently been awarded many national prizes and titles, such as technical innovation, quality control, quality — profitable enterprise, advanced customers' satisfactory unit, outstanding contribution prize in enterprise management, and advanced civilization construction unit.
